Mad as hell… http://ku5e.com/?p=87 http://ku5e.com/?p=87#comments Thu, 17 Dec 2009 04:28:03 +0000 KU5E http://ku5e.com/?p=87 Sorry, friends but I just have to vent, what soliloquy could be better than Howard Beale. So here we go.

network12

I don’t have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It’s a depression. Everybody’s out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel’s worth; banks are going bust; homes are being foreclosed on; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, and there’s nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there’s no end to it.

We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be!

We all know things are bad — worse than bad — they’re crazy.

It’s like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don’t go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we’re living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, “Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster, and my microwave, and my TV and my steel-belted radials and my  internet, and I won’t say anything. Just leave us alone.”

Well, I’m not going to leave you alone.

I want you to get mad!

I don’t want you to protest. I don’t want you to riot. I don’t want you to write to your Congressman, because I wouldn’t know what to tell you to write. I don’t know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians Terrorists and the crime in the streets.

All I know is that first, you’ve got to get mad.

You’ve gotta say, “I’m a human being, goddammit! My life has value!”

So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,

“I’m as mad as hell and I’m not
going to take this any more!”

- I want you to get up right now…
…and stick your head out and yell

“I’m as mad as hell and I’m not
going to take this any more!”

Then we’ll figure out what to do about

the depression, inflation, terrorism,
and the oil crisis.

But first get up out of your chairs, open
the window, stick your head out and yell

“I’m as mad as hell and I’m not
going to take this any more!”

But first you’ve gotta get mad!
You’ve gotta say

“I’m as mad as hell and I’m not
going to take this any more!”

Get up. Get up…

Stick your head out of the window. Open
it, stick your head out and keep yelling

“I’m as mad as hell.
I’m not gonna take this any more!”

Just get up from your chairs right now…

… and stick your head out
and yell and keep yelling…

Note: The stuff in red, I added to bring it up to today’s standards. After all, this was written in 1976!

Band Plan Charts http://ku5e.com/?p=75 http://ku5e.com/?p=75#comments Wed, 09 Dec 2009 18:00:04 +0000 KU5E http://ku5e.com/?p=75 While I cannot take credit for these charts, I can take credit for putting them in one place. This is a collection of band charts from several sources. The band charts with one band per page are my favorites. These were acquired from W1CGS, and can be difficult to find.

Can you Identify this Antenna? http://ku5e.com/?p=56 http://ku5e.com/?p=56#comments Thu, 05 Mar 2009 06:44:19 +0000 KU5E http://ku5e.com/?p=56 It is a 2 meter beam. It has a bow tie with a vertical support member for a driven element. It has an lazy H reflector. And it has 10 horizontal directors. The directors are isolated from the boom, while the driven and reflector are not. It is all aluminum construction and has a 2:1 balun at the feed. Below you will find the engineering diags from mmana-gal. (Isometric, Top, Side, Front) I have also attached the graphs, and field plots. Reply and tell me what I have on my hands. When I have an answer I will post it to the wiki.
